Allston Real Estate Background & Info

Boston - Allston Real Estate for Sale in Massachusetts

Allston is a neighborhood in Boston bordered by the Charles River. Allston is split in two by the Mass Pike, or Interstate 90. The area near the river and north of the turnpike is referred to as Lower or North Allston, while the busiest area of town lies south of the turnpike, known as “Allston Village.” This neighborhood is closely associated with the neighborhood of Brighton, and as a result, is often referred together as “Allston-Brighton.” Real estate options in Allston include a fine selection of brick apartment buildings, condominiums, and single-family and multi-family Victorian homes in Lower Allston.

Allston is known for its student population from the nearby colleges and universities, its emerging music scene, as well as its increasing population of young professionals looking for a short commute. The varied mix of people has created a diverse population lending itself to many ethnic restaurants, specialty shops and a burgeoning night life. For public transportation, residents of Allston rely on the “B” Branch of the Boston MBTA subway Green Line and by the MBTA bus. Routes 57, 64, 66, 70, and 86 all serve Allston residents.
